Moscow police chief says quadruple murder case ‘not getting cold’

The Moscow, Idaho The police chief remains confident a suspect will be brought to justice, saying the case surrounding the murders of four University of Idaho students will not cool off in an interview.

Moscow Police Department Chef James Fry told NBC Nightly News on Wednesday that “this case is not getting cold.”

The four University of Idaho students, Ethan Chapin, 20; Xana Kernodle, 20; Madison Mogen, 21; and Kaylee Goncalves, 21, were stabbed to death likely while they slept on Nov. 13 between 3 and 4 a.m. at a home in Moscow, Idaho, on King Road on the college campusaccording to the police.

Fry’s comments come as the quadruple murder investigation enters its fifth week without a public suspect.

“I know it’s very frustrating. It’s frustrating for family members and the community. But our end goal is to bring someone to justice,” Fry said, commenting on the lack of suspects.

Fry also told NBC News that investigators receive “hundreds of tips a day” regarding the murders.

Police previously said the victims were stabbed several times each, adding that the attacker used a “fixed blade knife”.

Prior to the killings, police said the four victims were in multiple locations in Moscow before finally returning to the King Road home at 1:56 a.m.

Ethan and Xana were at a party at the Sigma Chi fraternity house on campus the night of November 12 and did not return home until 1:45 a.m. on November 13.

Both Mogen and Goncalves were seen on a Twitch stream at Moscow’s Grub Wandering Kitchen food truck at 1:40 a.m. The couple arrived at the King Road home at 1:56 a.m. after being transported by a “private party”, that the police do not know. consider a suspect.

Investigators are looking for a white, Hyundai 2011-2013 who was seen near the crime scene in the early morning hours of November 13.
