New Apple TV + document shines light on Idaho family’s Christmas light fight

The story looks like a Hollywood movie. A combination of Christmas holidays and Deck the Halls, except it’s real. It’s so far-fetched that the story caught the attention of documentary filmmaker Becky Reed. Now, the Idaho Christmas story airs worldwide on Apple TV + on November 26 in “Twas The Fight Before Christmas.”

There are several Christmas light displays around the state of Idaho that are must-see. Winter Garden aGlow at the Idaho Botanic Gardens, the Winter Wonderland Festival at Indian Creek Plaza in Caldwell and the Scentsy Christmas Lights in Meridian. Christmas In Color debuted last year in Boise and returns in 2021. Then there’s the Holiday Light Show at the Coeur d’Alene Resort, which was recently named one of the top 10 light shows in the country. by USA Today and even includes cruises to the North Pole. Although these exhibitions have their history and notoriety, none have had to go to court to fight for the right to present their shows.

Not far from Coeur d’Alene station in Hayden, Idaho, Jerry Morris, known to some as “Mr. Christmas,” has found the perfect home to give his town a Christmas miracle. Once he moved in, the Morris family gave Hayden the biggest and greatest Christmas light show ever in a home. His production even featured a live nativity scene with real camels! Its neighbors, however, did not appreciate the spectacle or the traffic that accompanied it.

After letters and even death threats, the Neighborhood Homeowners Association took Jerry and his family lighting to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. They ordered the HOA to pay the Morris family $ 75,000.

This is not where the story ends. The story continues. And thanks to this new movie, it’s not just an Idaho story anymore.
