Orlando Bloom Praises Airbnb for Offering to Host Up to 1 Lakh of Refugees Fleeing Ukraine

The crisis between Russia and Ukraine has worsened over the past seven days. In the latest gripping situation update, Russian forces continue to attack urban areas of Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second largest city. Amid the devastating situation, several Hollywood actors have extended their support to Ukraine. Actors including Angelina Jolie, Jared Leto and more have sent their thoughts to the people of Ukraine as well as those fleeing the Eastern European country.

While several players are trying to help Ukraine with financial aid, Orlando Bloom recently praised Airbnb.org for its initiative to help Ukrainian refugees find housing for free. Apparently, the actor was happy to see Airbnb.org co-founder Joe Gebbia’s official tweet, in which he promised housing for 100,000 Ukrainian refugees. Sharing the tweet, Orlando Bloom wrote, “Simply beautiful” and added a clap and a red heart emoji.

The Tweet read: “Airbnb.org is committed to helping house up to 100,000 refugees fleeing Ukraine. The enormity of this effort requires assistance on an unprecedented scale. Please join us in helping those in need of shelter and spreading the word. .”

Airbnb promises accommodation services to Ukrainian refugees

According to the HRC, more than half a million Ukrainians have fled to neighboring countries amid the Russian-Ukrainian crisis. Brian Chesky, co-founder and CEO of peer-to-peer accommodation service Airbnb, said the company is working with its hosts to host up to 1 lakh Ukrainian refugees for free. His tweet read: “Airbnb and Airbnb.org are working with our hosts to house up to 100,000 refugees fleeing Ukraine for free.”

Chesky further mentioned Ukraine’s neighboring countries and asked company hosts if they were willing to host refugees. He wrote: “We need help to achieve this goal. The biggest need we have is to have more people who can offer their accommodation in neighboring countries, especially Poland, Germany, Hungary and Romania. He also mentioned that if company hosts cannot accommodate refugees, they can do their part by donating. The tweet read: “If you can’t host a refugee, you can still support by donating.” He then promised that all these stays will be free for the refugees.
