Police search for 2 suspects in fatal shooting of man at Encino rental home

Detectives are looking for two suspects wanted in connection with a fatal shooting inside an Encino rental home on Monday morning.

Police said the man who was killed resided in the house, on Martha Street near Zelzah Avenue, which was the site of a party on Sunday. A friend took him to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The man has been identified by friends and family as 24-year-old Dustin Sansing.

One of Sansing’s friends stopped by the rental property Monday night to lay flowers, telling CBS reporters that he walked her to her car shortly before the shooting, and that he, as well that other people present at the party, were all in the cannabis industry.

Next-door neighbor Mark Spaeny said the house is known to be a party house that is often rented out.

“Looks like it could be an Airbnb. They throw a party there quite often,” he said.

Spaeny said he heard a loud scream around 4:30 a.m., followed by a lot of loud activity. His Ring camera may have captured the two suspects in the shooting.

The video shows a man hiding in front of his car, then running away.

“I know the only man hiding in front of the car, we saw him going in and out of the house,” neighbor Courtney Courter said. “I think he was staying there.”

Detectives later confirmed that he had been part of the rally.

Minutes later, the video captured a shirtless man walking through a side door and walking towards the crime scene. Detectives also believe he was part of the group staying at the property.

Other residents who live nearby noted that this isn’t the first instance of the party they’ve heard of at home, and they’re sad to say they’re not surprised something bad happened. passed there.

“I heard from other neighbors that there were loud parties until late at night,” said Ivan Sumonovic. “Trash on the street, sports cars – like Lambos and Ferarris – going up and down the street late at night.”

Apparently the owner has been renting the property for months, listed for $19,500 per month on Realtor.com, and before it was a rental it was advertised as some sort of promotion with Mike’s Hard Lemonade.

“Basically, if you won, you could come and stay with your friends for about a week and party, I guess,” Sumonovic said.

The victim’s stolen dog, a long-haired French bulldog named Bandz, with one blue eye and one green eye, was reportedly removed from the property after the shooting, but police say he has been found.
