PrattMWP will host the 22nd launch

UTICA – The PrattMWP College of Art and Design will celebrate the achievements of the class of 2022 at the 22nd commencement ceremony to be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11 at the Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute Museum of Art.

The speaker will be PrattMWP alumnus Lee Milby, an Asian-American filmmaker and artist born in Hawaii and raised by an Irish-American family in suburban upstate New York. From an early age, she was passionate about painting and drawing and dreamed of becoming a professional artist.

Milby attended PrattMWP from 2007 to 2009, after which she transferred and graduated from Cooper Union with her Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2012. Her films and music videos have won awards at national and international film festivals, and she has illustrated storyboards for TV commercials with Saks 5th Avenue, Airbnb, PwC, NAACP, Amazon, Netflix and many more. Lee is represented by Famous Frames.

Rome resident Betsy Bamford, who specializes in fine arts, is among the 81 students honored.

PrattMWP College of Art and Design is the upstate extension campus of Pratt Institute, which offers the first two years of Pratt’s four-year BFA program in Fine Arts, Art Education and design, photography and communication design. PrattMWP follows the same curriculum as Pratt Institute, at a significantly lower tuition cost.

PrattMWP students experience the best of both worlds, beginning their education on a smaller, more challenging campus, before moving to the main campus in Brooklyn in their freshman year to complete their degree.
