If you dread the winter season, long stays somewhere warmer might be the answer you’ve been looking for.
We found stays in Europe and further afield, with prices from just £13 per person per night.
From beach breaks in Spain and Portugal to cities like Orlando, we’ve rounded up the best destinations for a winter getaway.
Malta
Malta is located in the Mediterranean between Sicily and the Tunisian coast.
The island nation and its sister island Gozo enjoy a sunny climate even in the winter months, with average high temperatures of 20°C.
You’ll have plenty of time to experience the archipelago’s rich history, cuisine, and incredible sandy beaches.
Tenerife
Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands, and even in the winter months you can expect long hours of sunshine and temperatures of 21°C.
The island is well known for its sandy beaches, water parks, incredible views, and year-round activities.

However, winter is the coldest time of the year, but average daily temperatures are still around 17°C – much warmer than in the UK.
Cyprus
Cyprus is one of the southernmost islands in the Mediterranean, so it’s a safe bet for winter sun.
Things cool down a bit in January, but are still pleasant enough to enjoy the beach and alfresco dining with average temperatures of 18°C and long hours of sunshine.
Cyprus has ancient history, dreamy local cuisine and vibrant nightlife.
Fuerteventura
The the Canary Islands Fuerteventura is ideal for long winter stays thanks to its year-round sunshine, over 90 miles of sandy beaches and spectacular volcanic landscapes.
It’s also less crowded, so you won’t have to fight for a spot on the beach, and all the attractions, shops, and bars are still open.
Portugal
The mild temperatures of Portugal make it a favorite for long stays in the winter sun.
The Algarve should be at the top of your list, which offers many wonderful places to sunbathe, renowned for its walking paths and botanical gardens.
Even outside of the busiest summer months, many tourists and events still take place in Portugal.
When it comes to temperature, you can expect high temperatures of 20-22°C in winter.
Florida
Florida is always at the top of the list when it comes to long haul long stays.
The area boasts year-round sunshine, a stunning coastline, and some of the biggest and best theme parks in the world.
Long stays at Orlando are the perfect balance of beach and city vacations, with plenty of golf, shopping and dining to enjoy.
Turkey
Turkey is famous for its historic ruin sites, bustling cities, beaches, mountains, top-notch shopping and cuisine, all at a reasonable price.
You can go on a city vacation in Istanbul or a long beach holiday on the coast.
Temperatures aren’t the hottest on this list, as it can get quite chilly in January – average highs are around 15°C, with daily highs of at least 7°C.
