The ladies of Le Petite Fete guide you through a busy day in Orlando | Newcomers Guide | Orlando
The duo behind Le Petite Fete d’Orlando — Caiti Phillips and Courtney Gibson — know how to throw one hell of a dance party, that’s for sure. Their Taylor Swift dance parties were such a hit in the City Beautiful that they decided to take their show on the road, and they’ve been selling out clubs in major cities ever since. It was an eventful year for these two friends. But how Gibson and Phillips spend their downtime locally can be very instructive for those new to the 407. They’re busy people, so Phillips and Gibson aren’t going to waste a day off. We asked them to describe their “Perfect Orlando Day” and they gladly accepted.
What they said:
“Being home on the weekends is such a luxury for us because we usually travel to host Taylor Swift dance parties around the country, so when we’re in town we try to make the most of our weekends. !
“A perfect day in Orlando for us starts with having breakfast at Craft and Common, then heading to the Orlando Farmer’s Market at Lake Eola with our dogs, Archer and Magnolia.
“Then it’s brunch time and we head to Park Avenue in downtown Winter Park to eat at Briarpatch. (Pro tip: always bring a friend so you can all wait in line in turn !)
“After brunch and pancakes, we hop from shop to shop on Park Avenue while avoiding the rain. A few shops we always make sure we don’t miss are Dear Jane, Gatorlilly and Writer’s Block Bookstore.
“In preparation for afternoon happy hour, we go to Baldwin Park and hang out at Paper Goat Post and have beers at Tactical Brewing.
“We’re both obsessed with oysters, so no perfect Saturday is complete without them, and ABO Winter Park has the best oyster happy hour in Orlando.
“Dinner is at the Bodega de Santiago where we meet up with a large group of our friends, and we order no less than three orders of dates stuffed with goat cheese, wrapped in prosciutto and lots of sangria.
“Caitie and one of her former roommates developed an Ivanhoe crawl that is so typical of Orlando and that’s exactly how we would end the night.
“Start at GB’s Bottle Shop, go to Thirsty Topher, listen to live music at Grape & the Grain, stop on the back patio of the Guesthouse for a drink at the camper, have a tiki themed cocktail at Lil Indie’s and end the night at King Bao, which serves arguably the best tater tots in all of Orlando.”
