Where is Stranger Things filmed?
Almost all of Stranger Things through Season 4 was filmed in Jackson and Atlanta, Georgia! With some production in Albuquerque, New Mexico in Season 4.

Stranger Things House Creel
Built in 1882, this stunning Gothic Revival style home was originally known as Claremont House before its introduction on Stranger Things. Now fans of the show know it as Creel House – aka Vecna’s Spooky Lair!
While the house is located in Hawkins, Indiana on Stranger Things, the residence is actually located in Rome, Georgia!
The residence offers 7,233 square feet of living space as well as 1 acre of land. Sure, the show did a fantastic job of making it look like a creepy pile of junk, but in reality, this place is incredibly beautiful inside and out!
The grand fireplace alone is enough to make you swoon with its custom wood frame and antique chandelier. If you love historic architecture, this is the place for you!
The Victorian decadence continues in the many parlors and parlors of the house. Unlike most homes built around the same time, this structure offers a much more spacious floor plan – each room feels larger than the last!
In addition to a formal dining room, the residence also offers a dining option in the large kitchen.
The residence was originally built for a prominent lawyer, Colonel Hamilton Yancey, and his wife, Florence. It took 3 years to complete!
Offering plenty of space for residents and guests, the house has 6 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms plus a guest house!
In October 2022, the home went on the market for $1.5 million and was sold to an anonymous buyer less than a month later, although details on the final sale price are unknown.
Stranger Things Will Byers House Indiana
While not necessarily the prettiest house in Stranger Things, the Will Byers House, fictionally located in Indiana, played a significant role in the series.
Like most filming locations on the show, Will Byers’ home wasn’t actually located in Indiana, but rather in Fayetteville, Georgia.
Built in 1900, the home features 1,846 square feet of living space with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms along with 6.17 acres of land.
In 2022, the house sold for $400,000. The new owner reportedly plans to turn the property into a Stranger Things themed AirBnB with areas of the house designed to look like the Upside Down!
Will Byers House Season 4
In season 4, we find Will Byers, Eleven, and his family now living in a brand new, much larger residence in Lenora Hills, California – except it’s not really California. The real residence located in the Land of Enchantment – aka New Mexico!
Located in a quiet area of Albuquerque in Bernalillo County, this modest home features 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms along with 4,350 square feet of interior space.
In addition to a spacious living room, the residence also has a separate family room – both of which look super cozy!
Oh, and if you fancy soaking up the sun, without having to venture outside, this veranda will do the trick!
Residents of this home never have to worry about running out of space at the dinner table – this place features a kitchen with dining area AND a huge formal dining room.
What may literally be the coolest place in the house – this basement-turned-recreation room has it all, from table games, arcade machines, a lounge area, and more.
The owners even placed a painting with lights around it – a playful nod to Stranger Things season 1 when Joyce communicated with Will using the lights.
Outside, the house has a covered porch, a pond and fantastic views of the nearby mountains.

Stranger Things from House Wheeler
Now, if we’re going to cover Stranger Things filming locations properly, we need to cover Mike and Nancy Wheeler’s house!
Unsurprisingly, the house is NOT located in Indiana and actually resides in Atlanta, Georgia. The property was built in 1963, giving it the perfect look for the retro Stranger Things aesthetic.
In addition, the residence has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms as well as 2,466 square feet of living space. Unfortunately, it looks like interior photos aren’t currently available for the house – and all interior shots in the series were filmed in the studio – so not much is known about the floor plan of the real house.
In 2021, the property sold for $425,000.
Stranger Things cast
Stranger Things has a fantastic main cast which includes the lovely Winona Ryder (Joyce), David Harbor (Hopper), Brett Gelman (Murray), Matthew Modine (Dr Brenner), Fin Wolfhard (Mike), Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin), Caleb Mclaughlin (Lucas), Sadie Sink (Max), Noah Schnapp (Will), Joe Keery (Steve), Natalia Dyer (Nancy), Charlie Heaton (Jonathan), Priah Ferguson (Erica) and Maya Hawk ( Robin) – along with a plethora of other talented actors who have appeared throughout the series.
And no, Maya Hawk is NOT related to Tony Hawk, but she still has very famous parents – Ethan Hawk and Uma Thurman!
Are the Stranger Things actors friends?
Literally all of the show’s young cast members were kids when Stranger Things began in 2016 — meaning that while they were close, it was more like sibling feuds, according to actress Millie. Bobby Brown. Brown has said in the past that she also became very close to her co-star, Winona Ryder, during filming and frequently hung out with her if the boys on the show got too annoying.
Finn Wolfhard, aka Mike Wheeler, had this to say about his co-stars: “When you start a show so young, there’s drama and there’s rivalry because it’s like school. And then you get old and you stop caring.
So are they friends? Yes and no – it feels more like family – lots of love with lots of bickering in between!
Is Stranger Things over?
No, the series thankfully didn’t end with the Season 4 finale – although the Duffer Brothers have announced that the upcoming Season 5 of Stranger Things will be the last (I’m not crying – you’re crying!)
This brings us to the next important question: When is Stranger Things Season 5 coming out? According to the very handsome Hopper himself, David Harbour, the writers are currently wrapping up the script for the final season in 2022 – which means we probably won’t see season 5 until late 2023 or even 2024!
