This awesome Airbnb in Illinois has a pub in the basement

Do you need a quick escape from the 9 to 5 grind? Everyone does it sometimes! Consider staying at this beautiful Airbnb in Illinois. This Airbnb, the Bavarian Brewery, has been completely restored, giving it all the modern conveniences your heart desires, while retaining its old-world charm. And, he even has his own tavern in the basement!

The Bavarian Brewery, in Galena, was built in 1842 by brewer Peter Specht from Bavaria. He ran his brewery out of the cellar.

At the front you may notice the hitching post and the large rock – they were used to help passengers out of the carriages. The current garage was once a summer kitchen, so as not to overheat the main house, and it still contains the fireplace and the bread oven. Now you can charge your electric car instead – times are changing!

The full modern kitchen even offers a sofa for pleasant conversations while preparing meals.

There is also a dining room and a powder room on the first floor, as well as a washer and dryer. Enjoy central air conditioning, Wi-Fi and Netflix.

The woodwork, wooden floors and staircase are original to the house. The floors are over 175 years old and are heated with hot water.

We admire the living room door.

There are three bedrooms on the second floor. The master bedroom has a king-size bed, a full bathroom and a smart TV.
The master bathroom has a power shower and a heated towel rack for that warm towel when you step out of the shower.
The second bedroom also sports a king-size bed. French doors allow you to connect the space to the third bedroom if you really want to stretch out and relax.
The third bedroom has a queen bed and a gas fireplace.

The second and third bedrooms share the full bathroom in the hallway.

Now for the most intriguing part of this Airbnb! In the basement, you’ll enjoy the on-site tavern which has been recreated to look like the original Bavarian brewery that welcomed customers in the 1800s.

There is a bar and shuffleboard, all available to you. Note that the bar does not dispense drinks – just bring your own!

Sit outside under the stars and enjoy the festive patio lighting.
