This Scandinavian Airbnb in Quebec is so worth the detour (PHOTOS)
If there was ever a reason to leave town and take refuge in the woods for a few days, this is it. This breathtaking Airbnb is nestled in the wilderness of La Conception, Quebec, about a 6-hour drive from Toronto, and it offers cabin living with a modern twist. The property is described as a one-of-a-kind Scandinavian-style architectural piece and it even has its own name – hinterhouse. According to his Instagram, he was nominated for Building of the Year by Architectural Digest in 2021.
Although it’s only a 15-minute drive from Mont Tremblant, the backhouse feels like a secluded oasis among the trees. It is a 10-minute walk from Lac Long and a 5-minute drive from Rivière Rouge, where you can relax on the beaches and rent canoes or kayaks in summer.
The house has two bedrooms, each with a queen-size bed, making it the perfect place to stay for two couples or a small family. The design of the house allows you to feel completely immersed in nature – the rooms intentionally have no blinds or curtains, to maximize natural light and views. However, there are large wooden shutters on the exterior of the house which can be adjusted to your liking.
In addition to a cozy fireplace, the house also has a sauna and an outdoor shower, which in themselves are worth the stay. The home is free from distractions and encourages simple, minimalist living.
The Airbnb listing says it accepts pets, and the property’s Instagram is filled with photos of dogs relaxing in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows. There is wifi and a TV with Netflix to make you feel right at home. It sounds like a dream, but don’t believe us, the near-perfect reviews say it all!
If you want to know more about the hinterhouse, you can see it on Airbnb and Instagram.
