Vanguard Appoints Airbnb Executive As New Board Member

Vanguard has appointed Tara Bunch as a new member of its board and board of directors for the $ 8 billion asset manager funds.

Bunch is Airbnb’s global operations manager, a role the hosting company appointed her to in May 2020.

Previously, she worked for approximately eight years at Apple where she was vice president of AppleCare and for 15 years at Hewlett Packard, finally as senior vice president.

“We are fortunate to welcome another highly accomplished leader to Vanguard’s board of directors,” Vanguard CEO Tim Buckley said in a statement. “Tara’s extraordinary insight as a practitioner of global operations, client-focused technologist, strategic leader and thoughtful innovator will prove invaluable in her service to Vanguard client-owners. “

Bunch, who lives in Los Angeles with his wife and six children, will join Buckley, Emerson Fullwood, Amy Gutmann, F. Joseph Loughrey, Mark Loughridge, Scott Malpass, Deanna Mulligan, André Perold, Sara Bloom Raskin, David Thomas and Peter Volanakis on the Vanguard Board of Directors.

Thomas, president of Morehouse College and former professor at Harvard Business School, was the last member of the board before Bunch. Vanguard board positions pay about $ 300,000 a year “for what is essentially a part-time job,” according to the Philadelphia Inquirer reported last month.

Bunch’s appointment will preserve some representation of women on Vanguard’s board, especially in light of President Joe Biden’s appointment of Gutmann as Ambassador to Germany and his eventual departure from the board. said Dan Wiener, president and co-founder of RIA Adviser Investments.

“She’s new so I wouldn’t expect her to make waves right away and since it looks like the board has so far followed what Vanguard is doing I don’t see how she can turn it. the boat too far away just yet, ”Wiener said. of Bouquet. “The Avant-Garde is a liner with a lot of momentum and it will take a lot of effort to change course a bit.”
