Arsenal today wear black armbands in memory of head gardener, Steve Braddock, passed away this week after a long illness.

Braddock has outdone himself at his job, repeatedly winning the Premier League Pitch of the Season award as well as ‘Turf’s Top Influencer’ in 2019.

A year later, in 2020, he became only the second person in history to be inducted into the Grounds Management Association Hall of Fame.

Braddock was famous for his work on the turf at Highbury before moving to the Emirates, while he also worked on the 11 pitches at London Colney, Arsenal’s training ground.

He also passed on his knowledge to other gardeners and had his own mentor in North London – Arsene Wenger.

The Arsenal the legend was like a father figure to Braddock and the couple remained close until his death.
