World’s Tallest Man Unveils ‘Too Late for Edelweiss’ Covers Album

Today The Tallest Man On Earth shared that he will be releasing a new covers album titled Too late for edelweiss on Friday, September 23, via Anti-. The 10-track LP will include covers of songs written and made famous by Lucinda Williams, Yo La Tengo, Bon Iver, The National, Hank Williams, and more.

The world’s tallest man, born Kristian Matsson, named the project after Swedish musician Håkan Hellström’s title “For sent for Edelweisswhich serves as the project’s opening cover. Too late for edelweiss was recorded at Matsson’s home studio in Sweden and State Side in North Carolina between sessions for a yet to be announced compilation of original works.

“Last year, I spent a lot of time on tour, but also writing and recording an album that I am extremely proud of and that will eventually see the light of day. But in the wee hours between trips and sessions, mostly at my house in Sweden and an Airbnb in North Carolina, I recorded a few covers here and there,” Matsson explained in a statement. “Several times as a reset button for my own songwriting, to cleanse the palate of my whirling mind while writing songs. A little document of songs I had in my head during those nights.

To celebrate the album announcement, Matsson released a cover of Hank Williams’ “Lost Highway”. The song is frequently attributed to Leon Payne of Texas, who released his version of the song in 1948. However, Williams’ rendition of the song, which was released the following year on an album of the same name, has been covered by tastes. of Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan, and more and became the de facto gold standard.

With a cover album just days away and a new project on the horizon, Matsson looks more than ready to tour, and the musician has dates planned for Europe and the UK from April 2023. with stops in Paris, Amsterdam, Milan, Berlin, Dublin, London, and more before shows in his native Sweden, Malmö, Stockholm and Gothenburg.
