Just after 4 p.m. on Thursday, December 8, 2022, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to a location on Tower Drive in Forestdale to investigate a report of a 3-year-old child who had been shot. Deputies arrived at this location and found a 3-year-old girl with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. The child had been left in the care of her 19-year-old son. The child was taken to hospital, where she is being treated. The most recent update indicates that the child is in stable condition. After a review of the evidence, sheriff’s investigators charged Leon Walker Jr. with aggravated child abuse. He is being held in the Jefferson County Jail on $30,000.00 bond.
