Arrest made in the shooting death of a student at Parker High School in Birmingham

UPDATE: January 31: Birmingham Police Service (BPD) say an arrest has been made in the shooting death of 17-year-old Jaylen Clark. The police department identified the suspect as Andre Carr, Jr., 18, of Birmingham. On his way to this location, officers received another call indicating that someone had been shot in the 1600 block of Lake Drive Northeast. Birmingham officers and Jefferson County deputies both responded to this scene where they found a 17-year-old man and an 18-year-old man had been shot. Center Point Fire Department crews took the two teenagers to UAB Hospital. The 17-year-old did not survive. The 18-year-old has non-life-threatening injuries. Investigators believe the teens were part of a group that drove to Nekoma Drive and were involved in a physical fight with another party. Police took the 18-year-old into custody. The district attorney’s office will review the case and determine if charges will be filed.

Birmingham Police Department (BPD) say an arrest has been made in the shooting death of 17-year-old Jaylen Clark.

Carr was taken to the Jefferson County jail just before 7 p.m. on January 31, after receiving medical treatment at a hospital for gunshot wounds.

A teenager was killed in a shooting that injured another teenager and a man in east Birmingham on Saturday night.

Birmingham Police said they received two shots just after midnight in the Huffman area.
