4 Malaysian tourists in Dublin beaten by group of teenagers in ‘racist attack’

Four Malaysian tourists have been victims of an alleged ‘racist attack’ in Dublin.

According to a Facebook post by former Norzie news anchor Pak Wan Chek, his niece was shopping last minute on December 4 with a friend and her younger sibling before their early morning flight back to Malaysia. Norzie told Malaysian media Said that the four are between 18 and 27 years old.

The tourists were at a local restaurant when a group of teenagers began harassing them, throwing empty cans and fries from the floor at the four.

As more and more boys joined the group of teenagers, the tourists left the restaurant and walked towards the bus station; however, the group followed suit and escalated their harassment.

The boys wouldn’t give up, but they quickly chased them and circled around them on their bikes, sometimes braking hard near my niece and the others to scare them off. ” I’m going to kill you ! they threatened. Four boys took off their bike seatposts and started hitting my niece on the back of the neck. My niece’s friend and brother quickly responded by protecting her, not once laying hands on the attackers as they were clearly outnumbered. The rest of the boys then intervened and started hitting the friend and my nephew in the arm, eyes and back. The boys only left after my niece managed to dial 999 and reach the police, while her younger sister cried out loud for help. It was raining and it was dark.

After 30 minutes, the police had not yet arrived. Instead, a Good Samaritan offered to drive them to the police station, which was only three minutes away.

In one video, a group can be seen cycling away as tourists scream for help.

Norzie said Malaysian Foreign Minister Zambry Abdul Kadir, who had only been sworn in the day before, had personally contacted her and promised to take care of the four.

She wrote that the foreign minister called her minutes after contacting the Wisma Putra, also known as the Malaysian Foreign Ministry. Zambry had not officially started his duties as foreign prime minister at the time.

“Soon after, the Secretary General deployed officers from Wisma Putra and staff from the Malaysian Embassy in Dublin who were already calling me to get things done and fast,” she wrote in her message. “At 5 a.m., the charge d’affaires in Dublin, Puan Nadzira Abd Razak and her colleague Thulianati Amira Zainal Abidin of MW Dublin were already at the airport providing medical assistance and boarding assistance for those returning home.”

According to Says, Dublin Police told Norzie they were aware of the group of attackers as they are known nuisances. However, due to the protections given to minors by local law, the police are unlikely to pursue the case.
