5 Birmingham openings that will leave you hungry, including Mama Suz’s Fried Pies
We hope you are ready for these openings, Birmingham, because we have five! Check out the new businesses we’re excited for in 2022, including some you can check out now, and updates on a shutdown that will leave barbecue fans heartbroken.
1. JP Morgan Chase | First Birmingham Branch
JP Morgan Chase has officially started building its first branch in Birmingham. Located on 20th Street, this new location was announced by the company in 2019, but was recently approved for branch establishment. According to an article from Birmingham Business Journal, it will include an open space, self-service transaction spaces, digital access bar, smart ATMs and free Wi-Fi. Chase clients will also have access to the Chase Private Client team, financial advisors and home loans and corporate banking relationship managers.
Birmingham’s high traffic and growth is what appealed to the company and the reason it chose to set up its first Alabama branch in Birmingham. PS—they’re hiring.
2. Mama Suz’s fried pies
If you’ve never had a fried pie from Mama Suz, you’re missing out. From sweet to savory flavors, this mother-son duo can whip up some delicious creations, and it’s about to get a whole lot sweeter. Their showcase officially opens Tuesday, February 8 in Pelham and you don’t want to miss it. The route? Breakfast pies from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m., lunch pies from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. and dessert pies all day, of course. Salad options will also be available.
Starting in their kitchen in 2018 and building their fabulous reputation and local farmers markets and pop-ups, Mama Suz has been frying her pies for Birminghamians for over four years using local fruit and vegetables. Congratulations on their accomplishment!
3. Gunn Dermatology | Lane Parke
After just over a year in business, Dr. Holly Gunn and her team have just announced their expansion to Lane Parke. With more space in their brand new location than in their Crestline location, they can serve more patients through medical, pediatric and aesthetic dermatology.
We are thrilled that new businesses are bringing Lane Parke to life, making Mountain Brook Village the place to be. Gunn’s new location will be between regions and Starbucks. For now, make an appointment on their website to take advantage of all the services they offer.
4. Chez Rochelle
These openings in Birmingham just keep coming. This Center Point-based cafe is ready to serve up a glass of deliciousness – just look at the photo above! This cafe and lounge combo offers delicious caffeinated drinks to keep you energized and food to fill you up. They recently posted a picture of their Chicken Tortilla Fiesta Dip, and we’re speechless.
They’re slated to open mid-April, so we’ll be sure to keep an eye out for when they open and finally grab one of these milkshakes – no sharing allowed.
5. Cool Shots Selfie Museum | Vacuum
If you’re already looking for an indoor activity with friends on a rainy day, look no further than the Hoover Selfie Museum. With a variety of backgrounds, setups, and props, they’ll let you take professional-looking photos to up your Insta game. Closing time – we are sad to see the closure of Golden Rule in Pelham
Golden Rule in Pelham has officially closed. This update was posted on Facebook regarding the Pelham and Helena sites.
“With great sadness, I have to let everyone know that I have to close the Golden Rule BBQ in Pelham and Helena. We have never been able to recover from all the diverse impacts the past two years have put on the business… I don’t know what God has for me after I complete this painful shutdown, but I do know that He has me and He has you too.
– Golden Rule BBQ, Facebook
Whether you’ve been there 20 times or never set foot, the communities of Helena and Pelham are feeling the loss. While we’re sad to see the locations disappear, we’re excited for what’s to come for the Golden Rule team.
That’s all we have for now, Birmingham! Be sure to turn on post notifications on our instagram so as not to miss anything.
