8 Spooky Airbnb and Vrbo Ads Just in Time for Halloween

When choosing a vacation rental, it’s important to consider all the amenities: good location, fast Wi-Fi, decent price, comfortable beds. But these Airbnb and Vrbo lists offer something more – a cold shiver down the spine, a feeling of dread, or creaks and moans that cannot be explained.

If you live for the thrill of paranormal activity and gruesome ghost stories, these lists are sure to thrill you. Otherwise, consider yourself warned…

This Stroud, North Carolina home is so haunted it even comes with a disclaimer:

“Several friends, family and guests have experienced supernatural occurrences here including: footsteps in the hallway or upstairs, hall and basement lights randomly turning on, a door opening after been locked, a dark figure in the kitchen and dining room, orbs in the living room, and even a music box that played on its own,” the listing warns.

But don’t worry, ghosts are benevolent in every way.

“None of the incidents were ever malicious in nature. We just accept it is what it is and get on with our lives.”

The “haunted room” of Talliston House and Gardens is the medieval manifestation of your nightmares.

Meticulously designed to resemble “a seven-year-old Edwardian child’s bedroom”, this room is decorated with ornate woodwork, heavy curtains, dim lighting and a bed worthy of Henry VIII. If it gets too spooky here, each room in the house has its own theme, so you can go to the Victorian living room or the New Orleans kitchen to escape the dark ages.

The brief description of the “Madness Chamber” states that it is “haunted and over 600 years old”.

The listing for Yorkshire, UK, doesn’t say much else, but if the wood-panelled walls of this former accommodation could talk, they would surely have some scary stories to tell.

The “Warlock House,” another Salem entry on this list, really delves into the town’s history as the site of the Salem Witch Trials.

The Halloween-themed house has all kinds of witch decor, including a ouija board coffee table, witch altar, crystal ball, and even an Edgar-Allen-Poe-themed room. Perfect for setting up a seance or performing other black magic.

This list will see your haunted house and raise you a haunted town.

Terlingua, TX was a mercury mining town, with a hotel, commissary and school. But in the 1940s the mercury market collapsed, the mine was closed, and Terlingua was largely abandoned. What remains is a city perfectly preserved in time, which no doubt has a few haunted spirits from its pioneering past.

This rustic North Carolina cabin is haunted by “Nancy the Ghost”, who is sometimes heard crying. The host says it’s probably just the creaky floors of the mountain dwelling, but who can be sure?
