Legendary musician Mick Fleetwood and four Birmingham investors launch Coffee Co.

Mick Fleetwood, co-founder of British-American rock band Fleetwood Mac, along with Gerard Marti, owner of the Robert Kidd Gallery in downtown Birmingham, and three other local investors, launched Mick Fleetwood Coffee Co.

The company offers coffee and merchandise directly to consumers, and membership is available in the MFCC VIP program. It is expected to begin offering the coffee in select Metro Detroit retail stores in the near future, as well as nationally and internationally.

The company’s first market test launched with a series of digital ads in Grand Rapids touting MickFleetwoodCoffee.com.

Fleetwood, a British songwriter and musician who is the frontman of Fleetwood Mac, founded in 1967, has lived for several years in Maui, Hawaii, near the coffee bean farms. Mick Fleetwood Coffee Co. uses beans grown in Hawaii, Central America and Kenya.

The beans are shipped to Roastery in Flushing (northwest of Flint), where they are ground, roasted and bagged for distribution around the world. The company offers one-time purchases as well as a coffee club membership that allows members to choose the frequency of their coffee purchases.

“Coffee is more than a drink, it’s a daily ritual,” says Fleetwood. “For those who are among these aficionados, Mick Fleetwood Coffee’s thoughtful bean selection and shrewd approach to roasting create a premium coffee that will be a welcome addition to their daily routine.”

Mick Fleetwood Coffee Co. blends include:

  • The Hawaiian Blend, an aromatic blend of fruits, nuts and cocoa, that offers a medium-bodied taste, low acidity and an airy feel of the tropics.
  • Its Signature Blend, a unique earthy and full-bodied blend of chocolate and caramel with just enough sweetness to take it all home; and,
  • The Kenyan blend, featuring almonds, caramel and a slight hint of cocoa inspiring sweet acidity (think garden-fresh tomato) is medium-bodied.
  • A Restaurant Blend will soon be available.

The website also offers branded coffee mugs and hats. T-shirts, hoodies and other merchandise featuring the Mick Fleetwood Coffee Co. logo will be added in the coming months.

“If coffee could go platinum, this is it,” says Fleetwood. “I take my coffee as seriously as my music. I’ve always said that any coffee bearing my name has to be the finest, tastiest coffee on the planet.

Marti, a painter, songwriter and former record producer and video director at EMI Records, has known Fleetwood for 28 years, having first met in Maui. He is also godfather to two of Fleetwood’s daughters.

“I used to live in Maui, and when the pandemic hit, Fleetwood Mac had to cancel their world tour,” Marti explains. “With the group stuck in their homes, I suggested Mick start a business and we started a coffee business because we both love coffee. Now I’m visiting local stores to put our coffee available to consumers.”

Fleetwood Mac has sold over 120 million albums and was inducted into Cleveland’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998. Some of the band’s most popular songs include “Dreams”, “Little Lies”, “The Chain”, “Go Your Own Way”, “Gypsy” and “Rhiannon”.
