Winter travel is expected to be more expensive than ever, especially for those visiting ski resorts and exotic locations. The fact is that after the pandemic, travelers have changed their habits and prefer different international destinations, and a new report testifies to this.
According to a recent study carried out by the travel insurance comparator Squaremouth.com, The average American travel cost for the upcoming season will be around $6,784. This amount is 57% higher than the average cost of a trip for the past fall of 2022.
An interesting trend that the analysis highlights is travelers’ interest in spending about two weeks at their vacation destination, more days than usual.
The average cost has also increased because travelers include an adventurous and expensive new destination: Antarctica. This destination ranks among the top 10 winter travel experiences for the first time ever, according to company data.
Here are the top countries for winter travel and their average cost and duration according to the survey:
- United States: the average cost of a trip is $5,164 and the average duration is 8 days.
- Mexico: the average cost of a trip is $4,233 and the average duration is 8 days.
- Bahamian: the average cost of the trip is $3,380 and the average duration is 7 days.
- Israel: the average cost of a trip is $6,548 and the average duration is 12 days.
- Germany: the average cost of a trip is $5,297 and the average duration is 12 days.
- Antarctic: the average cost of a trip is $17,976 and the average duration is 17 days.
- Costa Rica: the average cost of a trip is $6,807 and the average duration is 10 days.
- Dominican Republic: the average cost of a trip is $4,633 and the average duration is 8 days.
- France: the average cost of a trip is $5,492 and the average duration is 12 days.
- Italy: the average cost of a trip is $5,675 and the average duration is 13 days.
