Airbnb introduces new ‘anti-party tools’ to avoid chaos
New developments are happening at Airbnb which can have an impact your next trip. Following an announcement last month announcing an impending ban on unauthorized parties at Airbnbs, on Wednesday, August 17, the company officially announced the introduction of new “anti-party tools” to homes across the United States and Canada. These tools are intended to help identify “high risk bookings” made on their home rental platform.
While an “anti-party tool” may seem like a scary thing, the mayor of the city of Free from all ties would have in its shed, these tools are more like the company’s strict new vetting process for potential Airbnb guests, and are grounded in our digital reality.
An example of the new protocol takes into account factors such as positive and negative review history, length of time the guest has been on Airbnb, length of trip, distance to listing and weekend bookings -end relative to the week, “among other things”.
“The primary goal is to attempt to reduce the ability of bad actors to host unauthorized parties that negatively impact our guests, neighbors, and the communities we serve,” Airbnb wrote in a statement. Press statement.
While it’s worth noting that the statement refers to people trying to have fun with their friends as “bad actors,” the company claims the new regulations are meant to protect renters and damage their homes.
Apparently, a similar program has already been piloted in Australia since October 2021. There, the company saw a 35% drop in unauthorized party incidents.
The new codified anti-party scheme is designed so people who don’t fit the norm can’t book. Those unable to make whole house reservations as a result of this will still be able to book a private room, most likely a room where the host is physically onsite, or a hotel room through the website , according to Airbnb.
“While we are constantly willing to compromise in the interest of building trust, our goal is to make these systems as accurate and fair as possible to support our hosts and guests,” the press release reads.
If you’ve already booked a college-age trip with your friends and things may have gotten a little out of control, you might want to think about how that might impact your itinerary next time. you will plan a trip.
