Marcus Dunstan to Direct ‘All My Friends Are Dead’ – Deadline

EXCLUSIVE: Marcus Dunstanthe author of 3D saw and Saw VIis set to direct the horror movie All my friends are dead. Film Mode Entertainment and Roundtable Entertainment will kick off sales of the project at the Toronto Film Festival.

Written by Josh Sims and Jessica Sarah Flaum, the film follows a group of close friends from college who get a flight on a killer Airbnb for the biggest music festival of the year. A weekend party quickly turns sour, as the group is murdered one by one. They soon discover that each of their deaths corresponds directly to one of the Seven Deadly Sins.

Jade Pettyjohn whose credit list includes Destroyer, Little Fires Everywhere, Trial By Fire, School of Rock, United States of Tara, and The mentalist is in negotiations to play. Pettyjohn recently completed the David E. Kelley drama series big sky. John Baldechi (Happy Death Day, Happy Death Day 2U) product. Dominique Ianno (Soul Surfer), Jason Resnick (Kidnap) and Kevin Greutert (SEEN franchise) are executive producers. Cinedigm owns the North American rights. The film topped Roundtable and Cinedigm’s $15 million thriller list.

Film Mode Entertainment presents the film to buyers in Toronto. The film has already secured deals in Germany and Benelux – Splendid, in the Middle East – Falcon, and in Malaysia and Thailand – Film Frame.

“We are delighted to work with this talented team of filmmakers. Marcus is the perfect director to bring this brilliant script to the screen. His spirit and his love of cinema will bleed into his vision and audiences will eat it,” said Clay Epstein, director of Film Mode Entertainment.

Kevin Greutert (Saw VI) was originally set to direct the film. More casting announcements are expected to be made in the coming months. Shooting for the film is set to begin in Canada in November.

“The script has an entertaining mix of humor and horror that appeals to diehard horror fans, comedy buffs, and scary cats alike,” Baldecchi adds. “The film, reminiscent of hits like happy day of the dead and is full of fun is also equally scary with clever twists that will keep you guessing until the very end.

Jade Pettyjohn is replaced by Innovative Artists. Marcus Dunstan is replaced by Verve Talent and Literary Agency.

Film Mode Entertainment has acquired the international sales rights for All my friends are dead.
