I go abroad 7 bank holidays a YEAR – and each trip costs under £100
WHILE most of us are saving up for summer holidays abroad, one British woman has racked up seven trips abroad this year – and all of her trips have cost under £100.
Bargain hunter Kemmie Smith, 22, from West Yorkshire, scours the internet for cheap flights to get away – sometimes just for a night out.
Working for the police on working hours, Kemmie doesn’t even use her vacation pay, but instead uses her days off to get away for a short time, flying with her best friend Tegan Knappy, 22.
Kemmie is regularly asked by her friends to help her find cheap getaways, and the running joke in her family is, where is she going next weekend.
Kemmie said: “My friends and I are all very spontaneous and once we have something in our head, we do it.
“I was looking on Skyscanner and saw that you could fly to Palma for £7 on a same day return flight. We flew out at 7am and got back at 11pm.
“My £12 Burger King at the airport costs more than the actual flight, which is hilarious.
“We flew when it was snowing in the UK so it was great to go out and get some sunshine – it was the mid 20s in Palma.
“I went there with my friend Tegan, and we went for a swim in the sea, before enjoying a paella and a sangria in the sun. We also got a little heart tattoo with an airplane and sunbathed on the beach before returning to the airport.
“The tattoos were £50, but the theft was only £7!
“You can take day trips anywhere, but we thought we might as well go to another country.”
Palma isn’t the only day trip Kemmie has been on, visiting Dublin with friends for a night out.
She said: “We booked a 10 p.m. flight to Dublin and left for a night out.
“We got dressed, got on the plane and walked straight out. At 4am we went back to the airport to catch the flight home. It was like we were going out for a night out in our hometown.
KEMMIE’S 2022 OVERSEAS TRIPS
February – Krakow – three nights
April – Palma – one day
May and July – Dublin – one day each for an evening
June – Benidorm – two nights
July – Malaga – two nights
August – Ibiza – four nights
“We did it because it was so cheap. The flight to Dublin was only £15 and we didn’t pay for any accommodation as we came straight back.
“People at the airport thought it was amazing when we told them we were going straight home after our night out.
“It’s been the best summer ever, it’s been crazy, but I just want to make so many memories.
“So far this year, I’ve been to krakow in February, Palma in April, Dublin in May and July, benidorm in June, Malaga in July and Ibiza in August.
“I will definitely continue to do this. I plan to go to Paris next month because I found a £60 deal for flights and a hotel for two nights.
Kemmie revealed the key secret to finding these mega deals.
She said: “People always ask me how I can afford it, but I tell them I’m flexible enough to fly on the cheapest days.
“The key to all of this is you have to be flexible, if you go to Skyscanner and look at the whole month you can see the cheapest days and plan it from there.
“My trip to Ibiza was four nights but we still managed to pay just £60, and Malaga and Benidorm were both for two nights, but we still got them really cheap.”
