TV food science showman Alton Brown hosts new show at Wharton
Alton Brown, one of television’s most celebrated chefs since the advent of culinary television, presents a new live show at the Wharton Center in East Lansing on December 3. “Alton Brown Live – Beyond the Eats -The Holiday Variant” is the latest live broadcast from the man who fused showbiz with food and science.
Brown’s previous live shows Edible Inevitable, Eat Your Science and Beyond the Eats have been viewed by over half a million people. Brown is also the host of a new incarnation of Iron Chef, now titled Iron Chef: Quest for an Iron Legend, streaming on Netflix. The show that put Brown on the TV map, Good Eats, has been on the air since 1999, and in recent years Brown has had the opportunity to remake some of his original recipes, with Good Eats: Reloaded.
Something some may not know is that Brown has a legitimate food pedigree, with two James Beard Awards “in a drawer in his desk, and somewhere in the world there’s a coveted Peabody Award for Good Eats which was stolen from his car in 2013.” And since the world of cookbooks is a big deal for foodies, Brown has just released a fourth “and final” volume in the Good Eats cookbook series.
