JetBlue Airways orders 30 additional Airbus A220-300s

JetBlue Airways has signed a firm order with Airbus for 30 additional A220-300 aircraft, bringing the airline’s firm commitment for the A220-300 to 100 aircraft.
This latest agreement brings Airbus’ total firm order backlog for the A220 to 740.
“We are already seeing the benefits of the eight A220s we have added to the fleet, and we are very pleased to have more on the way,” said Robin Hayes, chief executive of JetBlue. “We have seen double-digit increases in customer satisfaction scores, and these fuel-efficient aircraft support our leadership in reducing carbon emissions. With 30 additional A220s on order, we are able to accelerate our fleet modernization plans to improve cost performance and support our focused city network strategy.

Jetblue launched A220-300 operations in April 2021 and currently operates eight A220s in a 140-seat configuration, with USB-C, USB-A and mains power at each seat.
The A220 offers passengers the largest cabin, the highest ceiling, the largest windows and the most spacious luggage compartments in its category.
The aircraft is specifically designed for the 100-150 seat market and features a 50% reduced noise footprint and up to 25% lower fuel consumption per seat and CO2 emissions compared to previous generation aircraft, as well as about 50% less NOx emissions. than industry standards.

There are currently around 15 airlines operating nearly 200 A220s on four continents.
