Hallandale gains popularity with Florida boom

Ari Pearl, the founder of real estate firm PPG Development, bought the 125-acre resort, complete with a marina, in 2018 and is building it in phases.

A recently completed 18-hole golf course designed by Greg Norman will be the centerpiece of a private golf club, Pearl said, and a 250-unit high-end rental property will begin renting apartments in early 2022, with amenities such as a gym, swimming pool, business center, golf simulator wine cellar and cinema room.

In partnership with Witkoff Group, another real estate company, PPG plans to begin construction of a luxury hotel with residences next year.

Oasis Hallandale, a $370 million company, will debut in phases, according to its principal broker Norma Campos. .

The initial phase of Oasis Hallandale, 50,000 square feet of retail space, will open later this year, Ms. Campos said, and will include a kosher market, restaurants and a spa. Other locations, including offices and an art gallery, will follow next summer, and a 250-unit condominium will debut in 2024; residence prices start at $440,000.

Single-family homes are also part of the mix. Builders buy run-down properties, tear them down and build new ones. Mr. Ippolito, the homebuilder and resident of Hallandale Beach, for example, is building seven properties in the prestigious gated waterfront community of Golden Isles.

Residential and commercial development in Hallandale coincides with a $54 million city facelift. Mayor Cooper said all 15 city parks have new plantings, playgrounds and walking paths.
