A Cedar Rapids pizzeria is moving to a new location

I was driving through Cedar Rapids last night when I noticed a large sign on the corner of 27th St NE and 1st Ave NE. The sign indicated that the building would be the new home of Tomaso’s pizza! After doing some research, I found out that the location of the popular Cedar Rapids restaurant will change in early 2023.

Tomaso’s owner, Holly Carfrae, informed me that their lease at 3234 Center Point Rd NE will end in March 2023, so the restaurant will be moving to 2706 1st Ave NE. Other than the building, nothing else in the restaurant should change. She said:

“Our famous pizza will be exactly the same…the people will be the same. [There will be] bigger stalls, a large farmhouse style table for larger groups, a bigger selection of beer and wine…and possibly beer to go. I think Cedar Rapids will be thrilled with that.”

The new spot is almost double the size of their current location, which means there’s still a lot of work to do before it can open to customers. They hope to put it into service at the end of 2022, but for sure at the beginning of 2023.

In the meantime, pizza lovers can still enjoy food at the Cedar Rapids Tomaso location, as well as the other two locations in Marion and Hiawatha! The one in Cedar Rapids isn’t expected to close until the new restaurant is ready to open, so it will be business as usual until then.
