A new European sleeping car service will link London and Berlin via Brussels

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll know by now that train travel in Europe is back in full force. A host of new sleeper trains have been announced in recent months, including Nightjet’s Germany-Croatia Service and an exciting new route from Prague to Switzerland via Czech national railway operator ČD.

And now it has been announced that the highly anticipated european sleeper service will finally make its first departure in May 2023. Originally billed for a 2022 launchthe service – aptly named the “Good Night Train” – will connect Brussels and Berlin via amsterdam and rotterdamgiving travelers the chance to experience three dazzling European capitals via overnight service.

What else, the new route will connect to the Eurostar, meaning passengers in the UK will be able to join the sleeper train service in Berlin with a quick change in Brussels. It’s true: from May 25, you can jump on the 15:04 of London St Pancras, enjoy a small beer in Brussels before dozing off on your way to Berlin.

If that’s not exciting enough, the pan-European sleeping car route is set to expand further in 2024, taking passengers from Brussels to praguewith an additional stop in the historic German town of Dresden.

The service from Brussels will initially run three times a week, and fares from Brussels or Amsterdam to Berlin start at 49€ per seat (or 79€ for a berth, if you want a good kip). All services will be sure include free Wi-Fi, coffee and breakfast – something you wouldn’t get on a budget flight, that’s for sure.

In addition, by choosing the train journey, you will be doing your part to save the planet. Apparently, a single trip from one of these trains will produce 75 tons less carbon than the equivalent trip by plane. Honestly, stealing is So Last year.

Tickets for the new European Sleeper service will go on sale from February 20. You can book them here.
