Abandoned house with and ZERO BEDROOMS in San Francisco sells for $1.97 MILLION

An abandoned house in San Francisco with one bathroom, no bedrooms, shuttered windows and a patchwork of mismatched floors has sold for nearly $2 million.

The property, located in the Noe Valley neighborhood, was auctioned off in a conservatorship sale and fetched $1,970,000 – $600,000 above its asking price.

But for such a high sale, the buyer doesn’t get a spacious mansion or even a remotely livable home: the broken-down house has clearly not been renovated in decades, with a dilapidated exterior, peeling walls and a kitchen appliances of the twentieth century.

Yet the real estate agents insist: “This is the worst house in the best block, which makes it a fantastic opportunity.”

Photos show a filthy and chipped exterior, with a window facing the street boarded up and another with shattered glass.

Inside the front door is a long hallway with not one but three different types of parquet, parts of which appear to have been replaced as the floor was damaged.

While other rooms have hardwood floors, there’s also peeling paint, inadequate lighting, and, in one room, a weird crawl space above a door.

The bathroom is also outdated, with an odd square-shaped tub and dirty tiles

There is also an extension built at the back of the house which does not match the rest of the house and which features tiled floors and peeling blue paint.

Outside, however, is a gem: a small backyard which, although in desperate need of gardening, offers covered outdoor space.

The house was auctioned in mid-December and sold on January 7. The Real Deal notes that the price is still below the $2.6 million median price for a single-family home in the neighborhood.

Photos of the house were shared by the popular Instagram account Zillow gone wild Wednesday, where many commentators were horrified by the state of the property.

“Think I saw this house on Shameless,” one wrote.

“It’s still a trap house, but it traps you in a solid roth will go,” another joked.

“Looks like the house from a Fight Club sequel,” wrote a third, while a fourth commented, “I swear this house was in an episode of Hoarders!”

Several said the house looked haunted, and many obsessed over the fact that there were no bedrooms.

“No wonder everyone is homeless,” said another.

Still, many people expressed their complete lack of surprise that the property was doing so much in the area.

“It’s the peak of San Francisco if I’ve ever seen it,” one wrote.

“It would cost $450 a night on airbnb,” a second speculated.

“Is that weird, I’m surprised it’s only $1.9 million,” said a third.

The Real Deal reports that selling this uninhabitable home for millions of dollars is a trend in San Francisco, where the housing market is ranked by soaring prices, “even the most abandoned properties.”
