The accused was identified as Jay Allee (54), a resident of Comfort, Texas. Police said the accused allegedly filmed private videos and photos of his guests through a hidden camera disguised as a Wi-Fi router, media reported.

Police said the device was found in one of the bedrooms at the receiving facility. The accused is said to have clicked on more than 2,000 videos and photos of guests sharing intimate moments and changing clothes on his spy camera, purchased from an online sales site.

The incident came to light after a couple suspected something unusual about the Wi-Fi device and searched online for ways to find hidden devices.

According to the police, the accused allegedly filmed the guests for at least a year. The investigation revealed that in the videos, some of the guests were naked, partially undressed and engaged in sexual activity.

He was arrested for allegedly violating his guests’ privacy and inflicting emotional distress.

Allee was arrested last November and charged with four counts of invasive visual recording. However, after additional charges were filed against him, he now faces 15 counts.

In the meantime, the defendant has refuted the charges.

Following the incident, Airbnb, an American company offering homestays to tourists, banned the Allee installation.
