Airbnb imposes restrictions on New Year’s reservations in central Florida – WFTV

ORLANDO, Florida — If you’re thinking of renting a home in Central Florida for New Year’s Eve, you might be out of luck.

Airbnb says potential guests without a history of positive reviews won’t be able to make one-night reservations in Orlando and Kissimmee for New Year’s Eve, in a bid to quell disruptive parties.

Some people also won’t be able to make last-minute, two- or three-night reservations during the New Year’s holiday in Central Florida if they don’t have positive reviews, as determined by the algorithms of the company. Users with a history of positive reviews don’t need to worry about these restrictions.

The New Year’s Eve restrictions in Central Florida are part of a larger global effort by Airbnb to crack down on disruptive parties held at short-term rental homes.

Last New Year’s Eve was the first time the company tried the initiative. He blocked 1,200 rentals in Orlando and 750 rentals in Kissimmee. Worldwide, 243,000 rentals have been blocked.
