When the characters of the international hit of Netfilx “Squid game” first lay your eyes on the prismatic steps woven into a huge children’s playhouse, which is one of the main sets of the drama series, their expressions are full of wonder.
That is, until they play the first game.
No worries – this particular place that gives off the same colorful vibes as the popular performance hall is designed for your enjoyment, not your death.
And no, pink and green tracksuits are not mandatory attire.
Media like the New York Post and Metro have drawn comparisons between the “Squid Game” props and this idyllic vacation rental by the Balearic Sea in Manzanera, Calpe, available for rent on Airbnb for $ 271 per night.
It’s called La Murall Roja which means the red wall in English, and it’s an apartment complex made up of 50 houses, quaint patios and multiple stairways, reports the New York Post.
Inspiration for the decor in the now famous show is not that particular property, but rather a tribute to the work of MC Escher Relativity, “Squid Game” director Hwang Dong-hyuk said in an interview.
According to Metro.co.uk, La Murall Roja “Was designed by the famous Spanish artist Ricardo Bofil, with the architect using the Greek cross as inspiration for the angular and zigzag shape of the building.
Most of the apartments are owned by residents and the development has two commercial stores, a sauna and a restaurant on the first floor, as well as solariums and a swimming pool on the rooftop terrace.
Guests who stayed in the vacation rental had nothing but wonderful things to say about their stay. The apartment available for rent is currently 4.16 out of 5 stars.
