Airbnb is looking for 12 people to live in their listed properties – based around the world – for a year.
Inspired by the growing demand for flexibility to work wherever you are, Airbnb has announced the launch of the “Live Anywhere on Airbnb” program.
The idea is that 12 people, and up to three companions each, will be able to live exclusively in ads on Airbnb for about a year.
Airbnb is looking for a diverse group to participate from July 2021 to July 2022, with the program open to everyone from young families to solo travelers.
As if that wasn’t tempting enough, they offer to cover accommodation costs and provide transportation allowance for the duration of the program.
They simply ask attendees to share their experiences with them, to “help inform future product upgrades and innovations” on Airbnb, so they can better accommodate those who live nomadically.
They are looking for attendees to tell them how they could enhance a long term life experience and what types of accommodation solo and group travelers prefer.
Meanwhile, those who decide to list their primary residence on Airbnb during the program will test what it’s like to host and potentially earn extra income while living nomadically.
According to the Airbnb Travel & Life report, 74% of consumers they surveyed in five countries expressed interest in living somewhere other than where their employer is based after the pandemic ends, and 11% of their bookings of long-term stays in 2021 reported living a nomadic lifestyle.
Full-time travelers and long-term Airbnb guests Debbie and Michael Campbell, also known as The Senior Nomads, retired in 2013, sold their home, and decided to travel the world “a la Airbnb. times”.
They have lived in over 270 listings on Airbnb in 85 countries so far and plan to live in ten countries in 2021.
“The experience of living on Airbnb has been a real transformation for us,” said Debbie.
“Live Anywhere on Airbnb will give even more people the ability to see the world from a whole new perspective, just like we did. “

The 12 participants will be chosen by a panel of investigators in July and will start traveling in September.
