Alterschool.travel confirms Diego Gil Hermida as CEO

Spain: Alterschool.travel online education platform, the training center from madrid proptech company Alterhome, announced Diego Gil as its new CEO.

Gil joins Alterschool.travel after spending 15 years working at Singularity University and WOBI in Europe, leading teams creating custom content for television, online platforms and events, as well as holding positions in multinational companies such as Cargil and Sony. The entrepreneur has also invested in a number of startups related to exponential technology.

In his new role, Gil will be responsible for promoting Alterschool.travel by specializing in the training of tourism professionals and capitalizing on the dynamics and prospects for recovery in the short-term rental sector. In February, the platform completed a funding round of €1.7 million to accelerate its growth and improve the level of professionalism in the seasonal rental sector.

Alterhome Group now operates under two heads: the property management company Alterhome – which manages 240 residences and 25 tourist hotels – and Alterschool.travel – the online training school for hospitality professionals.

The group offers three different courses that target managers of hotels, hostels, apartments and vacation rentals who want to “continue to improve and stay up to date, learn how to grow their business and expand their base of knowledge”.

  • Emprendetur Tech: A master’s degree that includes courses given in 15-minute sessions by high-level CEHAT executives [Confederación Española de Hoteles y Alojamientos Turísticos]; Destiny; Vrbo / HomeAway and Caribbean Coast of Central America.
  • Vacation Rental Growth: Teaches students how to improve a vacation rental business through the implementation of technology.
  • Revenues for Pros: Trains professionals and non-professionals on variable management of hotel and apartment revenue, changing rates based on occupancy and passenger flow to optimize property costs and expenses.

Founded by siblings Chema and Patricia González in 2016, Alterhome – and now Alterschool.travel – began operating with a face-to-face format, but has since expanded into a 100% online education program, incorporating master’s degrees taught by business industry leaders. such as Airbnb, Booking.com, Vacasa and Homes & Villas by Marriott International.

Alterschool.travel is also the official school of FEVITURthe Spanish Federation of Housing and Tourist Apartments, which represents more than 150,000 apartments.
