BBC Strictly 2022: Kym Marsh tests positive for Covid-19

Kym Swamp withdrew from this weekend’s show Strictly after testing positive for Covid-19, the program announced.

The former Hear’Say singer performed a paso doble to Rihanna’s We Found Love with Calvin Harris, alongside professional partner Graziano Di Prima at the Tower Ballroom in Blackpool on Saturday.

Tuesday, a Strictly spokesperson said: “Kym Marsh has tested positive for Covid-19. As a result, Kym and Graziano will not be participating in Strictly Come Dancing this weekend.

“Strictly Come Dancing protocols mean all is well, they’ll be back the following week.”

Kym Marsh pulls out of Strictly Come Dancing performance

Saturday’s live show returned to Blackpool Tower for the first time since 2019 and Marsh scored 33.

Chief Justice Shirley Ballas said: “I feel like you’re in warrior mode. You are here and you are fighting. What I loved was so powerful but yet you still kept the femininity.

While Motsi Mabuse said Marsh looked “incredible” and praised his control and energy.

Results show last weekend saw Kiss FM DJ Tyler West and professional dance partner Dianne Buswell are eliminated from the dance competition.

The couple they joined in the dance was Molly Rainford and her partner Carlos Gu who survived another week.

The week before Blackpool, the former Coronation Street star Marsh paid a moving tribute to his son Archiedied in 2009 after being born prematurely.

Before taking the stage, she said in a pre-recorded segment: “I feel like by doing this dance, not only will it be in memory of Archie, but I also hope people will talk about their experiences because it is the right road to rebuild your life.

Strictly Come Dancing returns at 7.15pm on BBC One on Saturday November 26.
