Be ignited! Spaceship-themed Pittsburgh home hits the market for $199,000

an eclectic Pittsburgh house has landed on the market again, and its wild design has already made the buzz on social networks.

At first glance, the 1,475 square foot brick home looks like an average home. But the trippy interior tells a different story.

“When you walk through the front door, it looks like a ranch-style house; but the previous owner cut the floor down to basement level, so it’s all open,” explains the listing agent. Chads Mullinaireof Berkshire Hathaway The Preferred Realty.

Mullinary explains that all of the unique changes were made by the home’s previous owner, and the current owners loved the original spaceship theme.

“They are moving, otherwise they would have stayed here,” notes Mullinary.

“The spacecraft’s dining room was designed using many parts that the previous owner had salvaged from an Apache helicopter,” says Mullinary. “He was going through a time in his life, where creating this unique design was kind of an escape.”

Listed for an affordable $199,000, the three-bedroom home was built in 1969.

A sunken living room features a built-in wardrobe, tall oak beams, hardwood floors and a brick fireplace. A spiral staircase provides easy access to both levels of the house. To the left of the fireplace, a wooden ladder leads to a raised library.
