California’s Best Airbnb Host Delivers ‘Fairytale’ Bay Area Vacation

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) – Maybe it’s time for a winter vacation. California’s # 1 Airbnb host is located here in the Bay Area.

Hal Bogner the super host offers a private room and bathroom in a “shared space inspired by nature,” the listing says. Base price is $ 92 per night.

The unique architecture – like a rounded living room, arched doorways, and exposed beams – makes guests feel like they are staying in a fairytale house, according to reviewers. The design is the work of former owner Chris who is an architect and made it “the incredible creation that people can see on our list,” Bogner said.

The designer now lives in a cottage further on the property, and Bogner said he liked to portray him as “the Frank Lloyd Wright of curves.”

Guests of the fairytale house can enjoy an extension of Chris’ imagination by dining at the local restaurant Pasta Moon. Bogner said Chris was also involved in the design of the converted warehouse warehouse.

Airbnb said that in choosing the best Airbnb hosts from each state, they followed the following criteria:

  • Began hosting in 2021.
  • Had the most records in this state.
  • had already reached Superhost Status.

The Half Moon Bay listing has over 90 reviews and Brogner maintains a 4.87 rating after starting hosting this year, according to Airbnb.

Bogner says he and his wife Kathy love meeting guests – “I think that is reflected in our many reviews.”

Before arriving at Half Moon Bay in 1992, Bogner said he spent a lot of time in hotels hosting many big chess tournaments in the 1980s. In addition, he has friends in the business. “I spent many years hanging out with a friend who ran a six-room, AAA-rated, four-diamond B&B here in town,” Bogner said.

There are still a few nights available for the fairytale house in December and January. Airbnb calls this a rare find, letting potential customers know the place is usually full.
