Captain America’s Shield, draft “Letter from Birmingham Jail” up for auction at Pennsylvania Auction House
Fans are lucky enough to own a piece of Marvel memorabilia as Captain America’s shield from the movie “Avengers: Endgame” is auctioned off at Hake’s Auctions in York.
The shield, which was used in close-up scenes in the film, will be the centerpiece of the 2,465 lots offered for sale at Hake’s first auction on November 2-3. While many other shield props were used in the film, most were designed for use in fight scenes and were often damaged during filming.
βIt shows the most detail and has been handled with great care on set so that it can be used in multiple scenes,β Hake president Alex Winter said in a press release. “In contrast, many prop shields lasted for maybe a scene or two before sustaining damage from the stunts.”
The second item highlighted is a 14 page draft of Dr Martin Luther King Jr.’s “Letter from a Birmingham Prison”. The draft includes pencil corrections King made before submitting the famous open letter for publication. . The letter has become one of the most important documents of the American civil rights movement.
Other collectibles up for auction include vintage comics, Pokemon and baseball cards, Star Wars memorabilia, original Mickey Mouse and Peanuts comics, and many other items. For a complete catalog of auction items, visit Hake’s website here.
