CNBC ranks Oklahoma 3rd worst place to live in 2022

CNBC just released their “The Best American States” report and ranked Oklahoma as the 3rd worst place to live and work in the United States As the old saying goes “Reviews are like holes, everyone has one and they all stink!” Sure, the Sooner State isn’t perfect and we have work to do, but to be listed as the 3rd worst place to live in the country is more than a little insulting. Some may agree with this, others will disagree!

So, what criteria, methodologies and factors were used to produce this report? Social experts and purported economists considered several different factors in their study and included categories such as quality of life, health and medicine, overall economy, job opportunities, crime rates , the quality of the environment, the availability of childcare services, the right to vote, education, as well as inclusiveness. business and state government.

New for 2022, CNBC has included additional categories to the factors they consider when ranking states. According to the site, there are 88 metrics in 10 different categories. New measures for this year include childcare availability and resources for employees, work-life balance for workers, and support for new industries like cryptocurrency and cannabis. They weighed heavily on the workforce categories this year.

Again, Oklahoma is not perfect, there is work to be done and improvements to be made looking at the list above. So what exactly did CNBC say about Oklahoma? Better yet, on what factors and categories did the so-called experts rate us so low? Below is the statement or conclusions of CNBC report/study:

“Oklahomans don’t like to take care of themselves very much, according to data from the United Health Foundation, which shows they are among the least likely to exercise or even eat fruits and vegetables. The state is also among the worst for adults without health insurance or childhood vaccines. Hospitals have spent much of the Covid-19 pandemic under stress, according to data from the Commonwealth Fund.

The report also said Oklahoma held no metics in the top 50% of strong points. It also rated the state with an (F) for 2022 Life, Health, and Inclusion scores. The Sooner State according to CNBC has an overall score in this category of 79 out of 365 points. The report also listed weaknesses and, according to CNBC experts, our weaknesses are health, health resources, voting rights and inclusiveness. Personally, I think they hate us, because they’re not us!
