Drake impersonator banned from Instagram after challenging rapper to boxing match

On October 31, 2021, DJ Akademics clips downloaded from a Duck doppelganger performing ‘Trophies‘ and ‘Lane 2 Sexy‘ at a club in Miami. “Is Drizzy really there?” No, you’re dizzy,” the man was heard to announce in the videos. “I’m originally from Toronto. I exploded when I arrived here six days ago. I appeared in Tory Lanez’s story. We just get rid of this shit because it’s all part of God’s plan, the man says. He then introduced himself as “Izzy” and admitted to touring as “Fake Drake”.

Appearing on the no rider podcast the following month, 22-year-old Izzy claimed her look-alike stampede earned her $5,000 per show. “People DM me like, ‘Hey, you want to come to my event because I can’t afford Drake, he’s too expensive. I’ll pay you $5,000. $5,000 just to show up. They’re paying my Airbnb, they pay for the flight, they hang everything. he said.

At the time, Fake Drake claimed that someone in Las Vegas had informed the real rapper of his existence, but the latter was not worried.

“He got in touch with Drake and Drake was just like, ‘I don’t mind, it doesn’t affect me. Let the guy get his bag. It doesn’t affect me.’ If you think it’s bad spin if you post it on your [Instagram Stories] and everything, just keep the peace. He really didn’t care, you know? That was all. Izzy explained during the podcast.

In an interview with Complex in May 2022, Fake Drake further admitted that he was swarmed by people every time he went out. “People say, ‘Yo, can I have a video? Can I have a photo?’ It must be really crazy. In Miami especially, I have to walk around with security,” he said.

But all that until he steps up his imitation game. On June 18, 2022, Izzy shared a clip of him FaceTiming with the real Drizzy. “Yo, that album was hard, bro. Congratulations on the drop,” Izzy was heard saying to Drake, referring to his latest studio album, Honestly it doesn’t matter. “It’s an OVO thing,” he continued, to which Drake replied, “Lots of love” and quickly hung up.

Two days later, multiple outlets reported that Fake Drake had been kicked out of a nightclub in Houston. After the clip went viral on social media platforms, eagle-eyed fans noticed how the real rapper had liked the video on Instagram. But things got really bad for the look alike when he challenged Drake to a million dollar boxing match scheduled for August 27.

If Izzy loses, he has promised to stop impersonating the rapper forever. If he wins, however, he has requested a deal with Drake’s label OVO in addition to the prize money.

Well, it turns out that Izzy didn’t get a chance to hear from her idol because he was completely banned from Instagram. “Naaa…don’t tell me even Instagram was sick of it,” DJ Akademiks first announced the news On the platform. While some fans sympathized with Fake Drake and his hustle to finally “feed his family,” others sighed with relief for the Canadian rapper. In fact, some have even speculated that Fake Drake started pissing off the rapper by quoting his lyrics from ‘Fair trade‘ which read: ‘Imitation is not flattery, it just pisses me off.’
