Emirates and Gulf Air launch codeshare partnership

Dubai-based Emirates and Bahrain-based Gulf Air have signed a unilateral codeshare partnership, effective December, subject to government approval.

The expanded partnership will see Gulf Air place its “GF” marketing code on Emirates-operated flights beyond Dubai to selected tourist hotspots. Travelers will be able to connect to points such as Budapest, Prague, Warsaw, Algeria, Tunis, Bali, Hanoi, HoChi Minh City, Taipei and Sao Paulo.

Emirates said the new partnership will also offer customers “the convenience of combined ticketing and check-in, a unified policy and seamless baggage transfers, and competitive single fares on multi-air travel during connection on Emirates”.

Customers can book their travel on the Gulf Air website, through its outlets and online travel agencies as well as with local travel agencies.

Emirates currently has codeshare cooperation agreements with 26 airline partners and two rail companies worldwide, extending the reach of its network to more than 300 cities.

Earlier this year, Emirates launched its codeshare agreement with Indonesia’s national carrier, Garuda.

In September, the Dubai-based carrier and Chicago-headquartered airline United also announced a codeshare and interline agreement to improve each airline’s network.

In August, Emirates announced it would place its code on Aegean Airlines-operated flights to destinations including Kerkyra, Chania, Irakleion, Mikonos, Thira, Rhodes, Thessaloniki and Alexandropoulos.

Emirates has also signed a codeshare agreement with airBaltic to offer customers connectivity to/from Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania and Finland.
