Employee killed on FedEx premises, company confirms

MEMPHIS, TN (WREG) — An employee was killed in a fedex installation Wednesday afternoon, the company confirmed.

A representative from Memphis International Airport confirmed that there was an accident involving two vehicles at the FedEx Hub. Two people were taken to hospital after the accident.

FedEx confirmed the loss of one of its team members in a statement Wednesday, saying:

We can confirm the loss of a member of our team this afternoon and are deeply saddened. Our deepest thoughts go out to the families of our team members, to our colleagues and to all those affected by this event. The circumstances surrounding this tragic incident are still under investigation and FedEx is cooperating fully with the investigating authorities.

Memphis police said the deceased victim was a 48-year-old man. His identity has not been revealed at this time.

In a statement, TOSHA said it had been informed of the accident and was investigate the events leading up to the accidentyou.

“On Wednesday, November 30, 2022, FedEx Express notified Tennessee OSHA (TOSHA) of a workplace fatality that occurred at 2903 Sprankle Ave. in Memphis.

TOSHA investigators are currently at the facility to review the circumstances that led to the worker’s death.

During the investigation process, TOSHA typically investigates the scene of the incident, examines company records and procedures, and then conduct interviews with management and employees.

A death investigation can take eight to ten weeks.

To ensure the integrity of the investigation, TOSHA does not disclose any preliminary information regarding the incident. Once the investigation is complete, the report detailing the agency’s findings is open for review by the citizens of Tennessee. »
