Eric Clapton has been forced to postpone a few of his shows after contracting the coronavirus.

The 77-year-old musician – who previously called the rollout of the coronavirus vaccine ‘mass training hypnosis’ – got Covid shortly after his second gig at London’s Royal Albert Hall on May 8.

He postponed both his show in Zurich, Switzerland, on May 17, as well as his show in Milan, Italy, on May 18.

A statement was posted on his website, saying: “His medical advisers have told him that if he were to resume traveling and performing too soon, it could significantly delay his full recovery.

“Eric is also keen to avoid transmitting any infection to any of his bands, teams, promoters, their staff and of course, the fans.”

He hopes to be able to perform in Bologna, Italy on May 20 and 21.

The statement continued: “It is very frustrating that having avoided Covid throughout the lockdown and throughout the time travel restrictions have been in place, Eric has succumbed to Covid at this stage, but we really hope that he will be sufficiently recovered by the weekend to be able to carry out the rest of the scheduled performances.

“Shows are to be rescheduled within the next six months and purchased tickets will remain valid for the new rescheduled date.”

Earlier this year, the Cream guitarist insisted that subliminal messages in ads were tricking people into getting vaccinated.

He also said he “didn’t get the memo” regarding the vaccine.

In an interview for The true observer of music Youtube channel, he said, “Whatever the memo, it didn’t reach me.

“Then I started to realize that there really was a memo, and a guy, Mattias Desmet [professor of clinical psychology at Ghent University in Belgium]talked about it.”

He continued, “And that’s great. Mass-forming hypnosis theory. And I got to see it then. Once I started looking for it, I saw it everywhere.

“Then I remembered seeing little things on YouTube that looked like subliminal advertising. It’s been going on for a long time: this ‘you won’t own anything and you’ll be happy’ thing.

“And I thought, ‘What does that mean? “And little by little, I put together a kind of rough puzzle. And that made me even more solved.”

Mass training psychosis is an attempt to hypnotize groups of people into following messages against their will. It has been widely discredited by medical experts.

He also claimed to have suffered ‘disastrous’ side effects from the AstraZeneca vaccine and said his hands and feet were ‘either frozen, numb or burning, and pretty much useless’.
