Etsy and Airbnb team up to reveal “the art of hosting”

WE: Airbnb and global e-commerce market Etsy has announced a collaboration to unveil “The Art of Hosting”, a new curated collection of homewares, all made by Etsy sellers.

Featuring items made “for hosts, by hosts,” the collection aims to make it easier for new and existing Airbnb hosts to decorate their properties with affordable, handmade items.

Etsy’s website states, “Whether you’re welcoming new or longtime friends, Etsy and Airbnb are teaming up to help you be the host everyone’s toasting.” We’ve curated this selection of well-designed Airbnb guest favorites so you can delight your guests while adding personal touches to your space.

The collection includes a range of work-from-home items, including a versatile laptop table and a functional mobile desk, with the aim of appealing to remote workers planning longer term stays.

Hosts are encouraged to “elevate their hosting style” and provide a “five-star experience” by incorporating everything from guest books to printable signs, handmade soaps and yoga mats into their guest spaces. ‘accommodation.

According to a survey of 1,000 American travelers last year, 68% of them said that unique and quirky amenities in their home would encourage them to leave more positive reviews with an Airbnb host. During the pandemic, entrepreneurs have used Airbnb and Etsy as a way to launch or grow their businesses and secure new income to cover household expenses, such as rent and bills.

Etsy said the revenue from both platforms was indicative of the powerful impact of the “ownership economy” – an “economy that retains more of the revenue from online marketplace activity with communities and the people who power these platforms – at a time when people need it most.”

Luke and Abby Hatteberg, Etsy sellers and Airbnb Superhosts, told Charged Retail, “We wanted our Airbnb to stand out to customers, to be special to them. We incorporated our love of travel – small creative details here and there. These little touches go a long way.
