Airbnb has introduced a ban on one night stays over New Year’s Eve here in the UK as part of his ‘anti-party’ stance.

The UK is among 11 countries where Airbnb has introduced the ban, which affects some users – Ireland, Australia, Spain, France, Canada, Brazil, Portugal, the Netherlands – Bas, the United States and New Zealand also have New Year’s Eve parties banned.

New users and people with poor account history on the online property booking platform will not be able to book an entire house for NYE.

“These restrictions will result in a ban on one-night bookings of whole-home listings for guests with no positive account history — or no previous bookings — on the platform,” a statement from Airbnb said.

It’s not just one-night stands either. According to Airbnb, it’s also introducing tighter restrictions for guests trying to book two- and three-night reservations, especially if they’re trying to book locally where they live.

During last year’s trial of the anti-party scheme, Airbnb said that “approximately 340,000 guests worldwide were blocked or redirected in an attempt to book on Airbnb through NYE, including more than 34,500 guests in the UK. United”.

The statement continued, “We are committed to reducing instances of unauthorized parties and helping hosts protect themselves from neighborhood disturbances, and certain times of the year, such as New Year’s Eve, may attract risk. higher in unauthorized or disruptive parties.”
