Gray Cup 2022: City explains how to rent their house

If you’re thinking of renting out your living space during Gray Cup week in Regina, the city has an approval process and some tips to follow.

With hotel rooms in short supply during the week leading up to and on match day, many people traveling to the Queen City may be looking for alternative accommodation.

As of May 2021, the City of Regina requires landlords to obtain a Short-Term Accommodation Permit, if they wish to temporarily set up their primary or secondary residence for rental.

The license is required for people who rent out their home or a room in their home for less than 30 days, the city said in a statement.

The short-term accommodation permit fee for a principal residence is $100 per year. A secondary property comes with an annual fee of $300.

The first step is to complete an application form in its entirety.

This includes providing your name, address, contact details, short term accommodation address, building type, name and/or URL where the property will be advertised and proof of primary residence as well as names of all adults residing in the main dwelling. residence.

A fire inspection is also required.

“The license must also be displayed in the accommodation where it can be seen by tenants. Additionally, the license number must appear on all advertisements and marketing, including advertisements from online platforms like AirBnB or VRBO,” according to the city.

The city said applications take an average of two or three days to process.
