Growing interest in Thailand among foreign tourists: Airbnb

As travel restrictions continue to ease, international travelers are increasingly looking to visit Thailand, according to recently released Airbnb data.

Bangkok, Phuket, Pattaya, Chiang Mai and Samui have become Thailand’s most popular destinations among international and domestic customers.

Travelers are also eager to stay longer and explore more places than ever before, part of a travel revolution that is creating more economic opportunities for locals, Airbnb said.

There has been renewed excitement among international travelers since Thailand eased all travel restrictions.

Searches by international guests for Airbnb stays in Thailand increased by more than 180% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2022, suggesting that the travel industry is once again driving the country’s economic recovery.

Thailand is also uniquely positioned to capitalize on the trend of remote working and the rise of digital nomads. Long-term stays on Airbnb are becoming a popular choice for guests, the platform said.

Airbnb data also revealed that travelers are eager to travel to both familiar and lesser-known destinations.

Travelers are also exploring unexplored destinations such as Ko Lanta, Trat, Pai and Cha-am. This provides an incredible opportunity for those considering lodging in off-the-beaten-track destinations that have traditionally missed out on the benefits of tourism, Airbnb said.

International travelers from the United States, United Kingdom and Germany top searches for travel to Thailand.
