Hobbit-themed Airbnb from Lord of the Rings opens in Nebraska

SOUTH SIOUX CITY, Neb. – Fantasy fans will now have a place to start “an unexpected journey”.

Kottage owner Knechtion hosted an open house on Sunday to show off their newly built Hobbit-inspired Airbnb, KCAU Reports.

Darwin Knecht is one of the owners of Kottage Knechtion. He currently has a treehouse that guests can rent, but soon people will be able to stay in an Airbnb inspired by the “Lord of the Rings” franchise.

“When I was building the treehouse, that’s when they talked a lot about Lord of the Rings and all the Hobbit houses in New Zealand and it became the number one tourist attraction in the country. , it was a Hobbit house. I thought that was another idea than something original that no one else has done not just in the tri-state area, but throughout the Midwest, ”Knecht said.

Knecht said a lot of time, money and love went into the project.

“Well it took, it literally took fourteen months to build, and the money, I don’t even want to go because my wife is still smoking about it,” Knecht said.

And so far, the reactions to the Hobbit House have been only positive.

“Well, I can’t wait to make an appointment to stay here. I think this will be a great place for families, and especially with the kids, I think the kids are going to be so impressed and struck by this, ”said Sherry Bender, a visitor to the Hobbit house.

“I like to pay attention to detail and, just to make it something that you aren’t going to see going, like you said, going to a motel. It’s unique, and that’s what you’ll remember, ”Knecht said.

The house can accommodate up to four people and Knecht said he only knew of two other Hobbit houses in the United States.
