Holidu and Bookiply will expand their offers in Greece

Greece: based in Munich travel technology company Holidu and his subsidiary company Bookiply has announced its expansion into Greece to make it easier for vacation rental providers to market its properties and provide travelers with access to suitable accommodation.

Bookiply improves the visibility of vacation properties in Greece with its own marketing and management software via its website. It helps local owners manage their property, such as streaming across all major booking portals, syncing calendars and centrally managing payments, and providing a free photo service.

From Athens, Bookiply experts will serve all of the Ionian Islands such as Corfu, Lefkas, Kefalonia and Zakynthos, and other regions will be made available, including the opening of a second office in Greece.

On the Holidu Greece webpage, Greek travelers will now be able to book a vacation rental in their national language.

Ahead of an expected record summer of bookings, Holidu observed that only 32% of holiday accommodation in Greece is still available for the high season. On the popular islands, 73% of vacation rentals have already been booked, while this figure is 76% on the Ionian Islands.

Most searches for the summer months are for destinations in Crete [40 per cent]South Aegean region [38 per cent] and the decentralized administration of the Aegean. Among the islands, Corfu [25 per cent]Zante [13 per cent] and Rhodes [12 per cent] score particularly well, followed by Mykonos, Santorini, Kefalonia and Kos.

Bookiply’s Markos Karakostas said: “Holidays in a vacation rental were already a trend before the pandemic. However, the target group has grown significantly since then. Besides families, more and more solo travelers, couples and young adults have taken a liking to it.

Johannes Siebers, Co-Founder and CEO of Holidu, said: “With our expansion into Greece, we are responding to increased demand from both sides – from vacation rental owners as well as travellers. Greece is one of the main holiday destinations in 2022, but the offer is still not very digitized, it is also very fragmented and new owners of holiday rentals who do not yet know the market are likely to face a certain number of challenges.

With its software and service solution, Bookiply, Holidu aims to alleviate frustration during the booking process and make finding and booking vacation properties as simple, secure and efficient as possible.

In the first quarter of 2022 alone, seven new affiliated branches were added in France, Italy, Portugal and Spain to meet strong traveler demand. Ten times as many customers arrived at Bookiply vacation rentals year-on-year in the first three months of the year alone, while Holidu bookings increased fivefold, even ahead of peak season.

Founded in 2014, Holidu raised $45m in Series D funding in May before Spain-Holiday vacation rental acquisition platform five months later.
