“I just got back in my rental car and drove off”

A woman can’t believe how her sister-in-law behaved during a family vacation.

she consulted Reddit‘s”Am I the A******? (AITA)”help forum. She and her husband invited her sister-in-law and her husband to an expensive Airbnb retreat. the Reddit poster and her husband paid for everything. They had only one request: that she leave her dog residence. The sister-in-law brought the dog over the holidays, so the Reddit poster left immediately.

4 mortgage truths that may surprise you

“I booked an Airbnb retreat for me, my husband, my SIL and her husband about four months ago. The Airbnb was not dog friendly, and I made that clear because my SIL thinks his dog should be welcome anywhere, no matter the cost. She said she would find a dog sitter, and I had no reason to question it. The Airbnb was out of state, about a 15 hour drive to a very nice beach in Tampa. My husband and I flew in and my SIL insisted on driving so she left about 24 hours before our flight. She said it was cheaper to drive than to fly.

“When my husband and I arrived, my SIL and her husband were already sitting in the driveway. When they saw me arriving, she had asked me if we already had the keys, which we had because we had met the owner along the way, and she said, “Oh, well, give them to me quick so Brute can get in. without being seen. I just stopped dead in my tracks and was like, ‘Are you kidding me right now?’ She kept saying things like, ‘What? I couldn’t find anyone to watch him. Or ‘He’s f****** old and castaway. I don’t know why anyone would be ignorant enough to say it’s no pets allowed. And basically, I kept making excuses for why she was right.

Christian Cowan’s first foray into menswear allows everyone to “be part of this fantasy”:

“My husband just sits there completely dumbfounded and shakes his head. I just got back in my rental car and drove off. I got a refund from Airbnb and dropped off the keys with the woman and explained the situation. She told me I could still stay there because I had been honest, but I told her no, the place was too big for my husband and myself. We end up staying at a significantly cheaper price Hotel (I paid nearly $4,000 for the week for the AirBnB but only spent $1,800 for the week at the Hotel).”

“All the while my SIL is blasting us saying she can’t afford to stay here (my husband and I earn a lot more than SIL and her husband so we agreed to pay for everything) and says that she didn’t bring anything with her to snack on and couldn’t afford the crap prices here and whatever I just ignored her because in my eyes she was trying to ruin my trip which I paid 100% My MIL is down his throat saying the least we could have done was give them money for food instead of leaving them stranded, and I said, ‘No, they can just drive home and look for food there.’

Redditors sided with the poster on this one.

“I would never do the kind of selfish stunt she did,” one person commented.

“She has NO right to defraud the owner just because she thinks anyone who doesn’t welcome pets is stupid,” another wrote.

“She ruined her own plans by refusing to follow explicit rules that she clearly knew she was breaking,” someone said. added.
